What happens to your body when you sleep? Why is sleep necessary?
Sleep is when the nervous system is relatively inactive and muscles are relaxed. Everybody needs sleep to function. The number of hours of sleep needed by an individual depends on age and other factors.
It is important to get enough sleep so that your body can be ready to function the next day. Also, during sleep, your brain processes all the new information you learned and makes sure your brain retains the information. Sleep also enables the body to repair any part of the body that may be hurt.
